Biography
Born 1939, in Egypt, Makram Henain started his career in fine arts through his academic education in 1957. He worked in Al Ahram for most of his career as an illustrator and art critic. He held numerous exhibitions displaying his oil paintings, watercolor and ink paintings in Egypt as well as international exhibits. He was strongly influenced by the ancient Egyptian arts that left a significant fingerprint in his works.
He wrote several books on art appreciation, critique as well as educational articles for the public on aesthetics and techniques of oil painting and illustration.

Illustrated many literary, intellectual and poetic works of art by senior Egyptian and foreigner writers, poets and intellectuals since 1964 on the pages of Al-Ahram.
Supervised on the publication of a book containing a collection of Al-Ahram art acquisitions 1992, and the first version of which was donated to President Hosni Mubarak on the occasion of the opening of the new building.
His works of art has been published in a private issue of Shell magazine 200 pages entitled (pioneers of fine art in Egypt), concerning 15 Egyptian fine artists, 1996.
Contributed to the creation Egyptian art on the Internet.
For eight consecutive years he had a weekly fixed fine art page in the Friday Supplementary of Al-Ahram newspaper to analyze the Egyptian and world works of art.
